The Town of Banff,
nestled in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, is about 90 minutes from Calgary via the Trans
Canada Highway, and less than two hours from the Calgary
International Airport. Banff is the largest
community within Banff National Park, and is a unique charming
mountain community. The surrounding Banff National Park is a
UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracting about 4
million visitors each year. Originally established in
1885,
Banff National Park was the first national park in
Canada, and the third anywhere in the world. It spans 6,641
square kilometres (2,564 square miles) of valleys, mountains,
glaciers, forests, meadows and rivers.
With warm sunny summer days, August is the
perfect time to visit Banff! In August, daytime
temperatures average 21°C
(70°F),
but can dip as low as 7°C
(44°F)
at night.
Rainfall is a possibility, so pack your rain jacket. It is the
perfect month to view the area's amazing flora and fauna.
Wildlife can be seen right inside the town of Banff and in the
surrounding National Park.
